From Bagno di Romagna we will follow the new cycle path to S. Piero in Bagno until we reach Piazza Allende, where we will take Via Verdi as far as the stone bridge over the Rio. We will the cycle uphill on an asphalt road, which will turn into a dirt road that climbs to Monte Piano as a single track. What remains of this mule-track leads to the ridge, which we will cycle along towards Monte Cocleto. Here we will come across the large, beautifully restored manor house that has become the “Rio Salso” Hotel. Behind the hotel, we will take a mule track that descends towards the Bidente di Pietrapazza Valley, running alongside the Rio Salso Stream. Once past the little Riacci bridge, you can reach Ca’ di Veroli, another solitary hotel. Below this point there is a long forest track which runs the entire length of the Bidente di Pietrapazza Valley, by taking it we will be in the “Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona and Campigna” Nature Reserve. At the square in front of Ponte del Faggio, where there is a spring and an equipped rest area, we will follow the right bank of the Bidente along various ups and downs and until we reach the church of Pietrapazza. Here, after passing a barrier, we will climb up to Monte Càrpano and take the “Mulattiera di Pietrapazza” which leads to Bagno di Romagna.
