The Apennine area of Bagno di Romagna is a veritable oasis in natural surroundings, with renowned bath spa centres.
From Piazza Allende in San Piero in Bagno, take Via Verdi and follow signs to Rio Salso. The starting point is a steep climb of about 6 km.
Follow signs to Pietrapazza, on impervious and remarkably challenging paths.
After Pietrapazza, climb for 4.5 km, turning into a small path on the left, before reaching the top of Passo Nocicchio (1030 m).
Go down towards San Piero in Bagno, passing through Bagno di Romagna.
Variants
1) At the crossroads for Ca’ di Veroli (at km 13.8) you can turn left taking a path that leads to Il Ponte (at km 20.4).
2) Once at Il Ponte you can extend the route passing by Casanova dell’Alpe, reachable both by dirt road (Trappisa and Strabatenza) and by a direct path that starts beyond the old bridge. From Casanova follow the dirt road up to Paretaio and from here the path to Pietrapazza (at km 24.9).
3) Instead of taking the path on the left near Mount Nocicchio, you can continue to Passo Nocicchio and reach the paved road that goes down to Bagno di Romagna.
